Security - One System/Grid Administrator's View

NeSC Research Seminar Series
David Martin

Starting from a simple definition of security, some basic ideas about system security are reviewed followed by a discussion of the particular security requirements of Grid Computing as seen in EGEE and NGS and how this is implemented in practice.

Some examples are also presented showing aspects of the EGEE VOMS and LCAS/LCMAPS components. These illustrate more scaleable security solutions at the same time as providing some finer control over resource usage.
