Towards Improving Supply Chain Coordination through Agent-Based Simulation

CISA Seminar Series
Areti Manataki

In the Digital Economy era it has been argued that “supply chains are the business”. However, we are far from the romantic vision of integrated supply chains, as it is difficult to understand the complex dynamics of Supply Chain Management (SCM). In this presentation, I will discuss an approach that uses agent technologies to simulate supply chain (SC) operation and re-configuration, with the vision of helping to improve overall SC performance and coordination. The suggested key innovation lies in the better explanation of simulation results and its attractiveness to SCM practitioners.

This paper will be presented at 8th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multiagent Systems - PAAMS 2010 - Salamanca (Spain)
