The UK National e-Science Centre at the University of Edinburgh is recruiting a Research Associate to join the Edinburgh Data-Intensive Research ( group. You will work on an EU-funded project ( to develop a European infrastructure to enable advanced data integration and data mining for research. The work will entail designing, prototyping and evaluating aspects of a distributed environment that will support data integration and data mining activities. Your primary role is to liaise between the theoretical foundations and the development of an architecture for the distributed data integration and data mining platform. Your secondary role is to liaise with the applications to ensure effective use of the platform. You will actively contribute to the project's deliverables, including research papers. You will have a PhD degree in computer science with an excellent research track record.

The post is available from 1st August 2010 with a fixed end-date of 28 Feb 2011 that coincides with the end of the project (with the possibility of an extension).
