Workflow Roles in Processing Large Undersea Videos in Fish4Knowledge

20th May - Gaya Nadaraja

Fish4Knowledge (F4K) ( is an EU project between Edinburgh and several partners that aims at providing i) Automatic storage and extraction of information of observed marine life from database; and ii) Interfaces for non-expert users (marine scientists) to query on. F4K brings together various computational expertise (databases, image processing, ontologies, workflow and high performance computing) in order to achieve its objectives. I then discuss three major directions for workflow research to take with respect to this, with focus on data- and compute-intensive factors. Comments and feedback very welcome.
